Beauty's delusion

‘ The problem with beauty is that it’s like being born rich and getting poorer.’
Joan Collins.

‘You’re beautiful.’ But I don’t really care. One day I will be beautiful to the eye no more.
Will I be beautiful then?

But then, is beauty only what the eye can see?

Interesting. Where did you take this?

And why do you call it Beauty's Delusion?

I took it at home. One of my favourite bronze sculptures.
I'm going to post why i called it Beauty's Delusion.
So there.

Beauty exists only when there is an admirer,an eye for appreciation. It is not something that is 'contained' or etched in the object. So it cannot fade away.

Beauty exists discretely at those moments when you look at the object and feel its beauty within.

You never know. The same statue whose beauty you might think is in its ruin, might inspire a historian to write a poem on it.

Well thanks for answering the questions which were to be left to the reader.
But then does it really matter cause not many people come here anyway.

Bestest buddy?
I just liked one of his comments on your blog. And so I went to check his out. I'll comment on his as well since I like it, except there's too much bengali that I can't understand.

Beauty lies
in sparkling eyes
In smiles, in sins
In violins
In praise, in song
In words too long
To understand
In grains of sand,
An ocean's wave
A deep, dark cave
A dream, a sigh
a scream, a cry.

And Beauty fades away with time
A tintinnabulating chime.

So I guess you liked this one since it inspired you to write that. I like what you wrote by the way. It's good. You like the word 'tintinnabulating' don't you?

Love it. The word, I mean. Didn't care much about the post. You are getting touchy, aren't you? You need to improve.

If I look back at the picture
The picture of you in my mind
The smile playing around your lips,
As i glanced behind......

A look, a mere glance, that's all i had
A faded memory, in shades of white and black
Yet the colours, they all seemed to
glow
An image of love, of undying hope...

When i look at you today,
After all these years have passed,
I realise that your beauty lay not in your looks,
But somewhere in your heart....

@ Maurice - Yes I was touchy then, and you know why. I still don't care though.
:)
@ Subhayu - I really liked this. Ha ha. I have a lovely comment on my blog. I was so...I can't call it jealous, but something of that sort...that saptarshi had that comment on his blog...the one that went like 'somewhere over the rainbow'...Thank you.
:)
[I'm being silly, and I know it, and I don't care. *grins*
