At Flury's

The other day I was at Flury’s, having breakfast, and looking out of their wide glass windows [it covers one whole wall actually], and I watched an assortment of people pass by. As it happens to be one of the busiest crossings of the city there was every sort of person I could think of – workers, students, travelers, beggars, people who passed by giving haughty looks from their expensive cars et all. And one would think looking at this multitude of people I’d be humbled. Most writers write about how they’re humbled before the diversity of humanity. But I just wasn’t. I didn’t feel unimportant at all. I can’t explain it. I felt my life mattered just as much. It feels good to feel significant. I really didn’t feel like a petty pawn. I wonder why.

Delicious!

(a very gastronomic view point, but, well, honestly.)

I love the cake too.
It's so pretty.
I'd like something like that for my wedding. It'd seem like such a waste on my b'day.
What do you think about what I wrote though?
Maurice laughed. Said I'd obviously feel good when I'd look at all those 'ghochoos'

Ritwika said...

I'm sorry. Maurice laughs at everything. It tends to get monotonous.

Okay, who am I kidding? He sounds so adorable. Hmm ... *sigh*

About what you've written: Why should anyone feel humbled? The only thing I think about in sucha situation is India's problem with population.
And know why the Family Planning plans are suffering? Hmm ... give you an example: I saw, on my way back from Granny's, a truck full of eggs. And on the back of that truck was an inverted triangle. The sign for Family planning. Talk about irony.
And yes, you should feel good. Afterall, you should be happy you're not a worker - running about, frantically trying to carry out a demonic boss' orders. You are a student, yes, but you're at Flury's that should make you feel better anyway. You're not a traveller: thank god. Imagine how sad your life is if you have no where to travel but this city. Or a beggar, well, you're one of the many fortunate. And as for "people who passed by giving haughty looks from their expensive cars", well, their stupid madus: enough said.

Hmm.

I'm sorry for you Piglet. You deseve better. Psycho is one of the best, if only he were available. Which I'm unsure about.
I wasn't feeling unfortunate or fortunate. Just thinking I should be humbled at the diversity of life. I wasn't.
That's all.

Hmm... Psycho... ha ha

It's fine, y'know. It's absolutely fine.

Don't be sorry for me. I'm not.

I've stopped caring. And you should too. Afterall, I am being stupid. And stupid people don't deserve all of that...

Hmm.

Lúthien Táralóm said...

Really? Then I shouldn't have anyone care for me either.
Hmm...

Ritwika said...

You're not stupid. And I am not either.

However, I am being stupid.

There is a difference, see?

And when I'm being stupid, you shouldn't care. Just like me.

Just like Psycho.

Lúthien Táralóm said...

Why does Psycho have to be a measure?
I like people to humour me when I'm stupid. But only when it doesn't like take too much to humour me.
It's good to be Princess.

Ha ha.

Ritwika said...

Yes, perhaps.

But see, I'm piglet. If it takes to much to humour me - I'll just be turned into pork chops.

*Pulls out her pointy sword*
No one'll dare to turn you into pork chops m'dear.

Ritwika said...

Hmm... haha... Does it really matter?

Incidentally, I still am waiting for your comments on my other posts.

:p
